Meet Our Team
Well-known for her assertive and effective representation in Los Angeles and Orange County family law courts, Nancy Dahan has been an active family law attorney bringing results and compassion to her clients since 1988.
Nancy first joined the Beverly Hills office of Ira M. Friedman, where she litigated complex family law cases in Los Angeles. After founding her own law firm in Los Angeles in 1992, she joined forces with Kathleen A. Brown in Orange County and formed Brown Dahan in 2000.
Extensive experience in handling intricate custody disputes as well as complex business and financial aspects in divorce cases give her the competitive edge in representing clients in Orange County family law courts.
Nancy’s professional successes and commitment to the community have resulted in her being honored among the Most Remarkable Women of Orange County by the National Association of Women Business Owners, along with other nominations and accolades. She serves on the Board of Directors of Human Options, which helps to restore hope and rebuild the lives of battered women and their families. In addition, she is active in numerous professional organizations, including the Women in Leadership Organization and Orange County Bar Association. Nancy actively participates in a monthly roundtable with prominent Orange County attorneys on complex issues of family law.
She received her Juris Doctorate degree from Western State University, and Bachelor of Arts degree from University of California at Los Angeles.
Kathleen Brown is well-recognized as an aggressive and effective litigator in Orange County family law, who treats each client with respect, integrity, and exceptional care.
After launching her own practice in 1995, she joined forces with Nancy W. Dahan and formed Brown Dahan in 2000.
Kathleen handles all aspects of divorce and family law matters as a partner in Brown Dahan. Her experience in accounting and business complement her abilities as an astute, result-driven negotiator when handling complex financial issues in dissolution proceedings.
Kathleen is an esteemed Court-Appointed Special Advocate in Orange County, an active member of the Orange County Bar Association, and published author (most recently in Orange County Lawyer Magazine). She actively participates in a monthly roundtable with prominent Orange County attorneys on complex matters of family law.
She received her Juris Doctorate degree from Western State University and Bachelor of science degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
Denise Vatani Heinz is an Associate Attorney at Brown Dahan. She joined the Brown Dahan team during her second year in law school as a law clerk and became an Associate Attorney after passing the California Bar Exam. Denise was born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama and moved to Orange County her senior year in high school. She then attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Arts Degree, double majoring in Political Science and International Relations. After receiving her undergraduate degree, Denise attended Chapman University, School of Law, where she received her Juris Doctorate.
Denise understands that this is a very difficult and demanding time for clients and encourages them to be active and aware of the circumstances of their case. She prefers that her clients have all the knowledge necessary prior to making any big decisions. She is active in the professional community as a member of the California Bar, the Orange County Bar Association, the Young Lawyers Division, and the American Bar Association. Denise is also fluent in Farsi and is committed to the intelligent and effective representation of the law firm’s family law clients.
